A great way to keep in touch with your classmates now AND after the reunion!
Welcome to the Bay High Class of 1969 Website!
This site will be used to keep track of classmate news and future reunion information. Be sure to let us know if you change your address, phone, and/or email so we can stay in touch!
You can also check us out onFacebook! Lots of classmates have joined!
50th Bay High School Class Reunion
Plans are underway for the upcoming reunion. This is the BIG 5-0 event - so hopefully everyone will make the effort to attend! We are finalizing the RSVPs so please let us know if you are coming as soon as possible. Questions should be sent to us at email@example.com.
Friday evening Cocktail Party - July 26, 2019 - come get reaquainted with classmates at the home of Karen Hansen Dade 584 Bradley Rd. in Bay (southern end of Bradley); 6:00-10:00; Hors d'oevres, beer and wine; casual!
Saturday evening Main Event - July 27, 2019 - Fuller House* located by the old Huntington Playhouse (see info below on the Fuller House); 6:00-11:00; BBQ dinner, beer and wine; casual!
Also - returning by popular demand - on Saturday night will be our favorite BayWay band - THE OTHERS - Bill Papworth, John Kogge, and Larry Galazin from the class of 1968, and our very own Dave Dixon and Ray Schilens. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes as they pound out some old favorites!
Sunday Farewell Brunch - July 28, 2019 - 9am-noon; at the home of Linda Glaesel Kazen - 31457 St. Andrews (off Center Ridge, just west of Bradley) in Westlake. Street parking will be required.
NOTE: A number of folks are asking what the expected dress is for the reunion - especially Saturday night. This is a CASUAL weekend. Men are NOT expected to wear coats and ties to any of the events. Golf shirts are fine! Ladies are encouraged NOT to wear heals because we’ll either be on grass or uneven surfaces. Just come and have fun!
If you want to join us for a tour of the high school - Matt Spellman - the current Athletic/Activities Director at the high school - will be conducting a tour on Saturday, July 27. We are to meet Matt at the main door of the High School at 10:00am. When you enter the High School from Wolf Road, the main door has a canopy and is the first door you see when you drive in…..there are a few parking spots near that door and the main parking lot is further down the driveway. No RSVPs needed for this - just come on over and join in the fun. Good times for reminiscing! I wonder if we'll see any of our names on any of the photos or trophies or whatever....??
Registering for the Reunion - IMPORTANT!!
We will need to provide official numbers to the Friday and Sunday hosts, as well as to the Fuller House, so everyone is encouraged to get their RSVPs in ASAP. To collect all the required info, we are asking you to complete TWO different RSVP forms (both are easy and have different purposes), AND mail your $125 per person payment to us. Information about each is below:
PAYMENT - REQUIRED:
Cost for the 3-day event will be $125 per person. The cost is the same whether you come to one event or all 3 events. A number of classmates have donated private funds to keep the per person cost low for the rest of the class - so to make it easier on everyone we will have just the one price. Please send your check made payable to Nancy (Burbach) Flowers, and mail it to her at 31998 Pondside Dr, Avon Lake, OH 44012.
RSVP FORM - REQUIRED
Everyone PLEASE click on this link and fill out the RSVP form, so we can gather RSVPs for the Friday cocktail hour and the Sunday brunch (the Evite doesn't do that), and so we can guage interest in some possible additional events over the reunion weekend. (Even if you aren't attending you can fill out the top part of this form so we can confirm your contact info!) When you are finished with this form PLEASE also complete the official evite!
OFFICIAL EVITE - REQUIRED
We have created an online evite so for at least the main event everyone can track who else is coming. Evites only allow us to include one event - so we chose the Saturday event. Please note that there may be something on the Evite about bringing a gift - we can't seem to delete that. There is no gift! Ignore that request!
To see who is coming to the Saturday night event - just go to "VIEW INVITE" and along the left side click on GUESTS - that will show you the list of those who have responded. Hopefully seeing all your classmates responding for at least Saturday night will encourage you to attend!
Hotel for the 50th Reunion
We have reserved a block of 30 rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton (Cleveland-Westlake) for the time of our reunion. We have the rooms for Friday, July 26, 2019 and Saturday, July 27, 2019. You can request one or both nights. There are both king size rooms and rooms with 2 double beds. Breakfast is included with this reservation (get a coupon at check-in). The rooms are $99/night (plus taxes).
Call the hotel directly at 440-871-6000 to reserve your rooms. Mention that you are part of the Bay HS Class of '69. (What a unique name!)
The hotel is located at 1100 Crocker Rd., Westlake
These rooms and this special rate is available through June 26, 2019.
If you want to use a different hotel that is totally fine! We did check around other hotels in this area and found this price to be the best offered. Nearby there is a Holiday Inn Express, a Hyatt Place, a and a Red Roof Inn. Others are available if you want to go a little farther out. We choose the Double Tree because of price, location, the rooms were nice, and we thought the lobby area/pool would be very nice for classmates just wanting to hang out and visit.
HELP WITH THE REUNION PLANNING
If you are willing to help with the planning of the reunion - please let us know! There are many ways to help:
Local assistance - if you live around the Bay area - then help can be offered with the event itself. Decorations, preparing name tags, determining food needs, etc. etc. This committee so far is made up of Karen Hansen Dade, Linda Glaesel Kazen, Janalee Brennan James, Mike Manos, Barry Tutin, Nancy Lawther Allen, Marcia Danielson Lowe, Nancy Burbach Flowers, and Sue Stewart Popadak.
Entertainment - if you have any ideas for special events to take place at the reunion (it could be on any of the 3 days) then please get in touch with us to work on that. So far Ray Schilens is helping here.
Communications - if you are good with the computer and/or social media and can help us look for lost classmates - then please let us know. We started this job in early January 2018 and are still looking! The main committee is Sandi Blankner Gorman, Terri Mathes Baugus, Greg Ellis, Randy Perry, Kirk Gorman and Carla Hirschfeld Mattmiller, but we are happy to add others to the list as well!
The Shoreline The Bay Alumni Association Newsletter
If you don't currently receive The Shoreline (either by mail or email) and want to receive it - then go to www.bayalumni.com and sign up to receive a copy. They come out about quarterly. Past editions are archived on the website as well.
An updated directory can be found by clicking on this link.
REMEMBER - this website will be maintained even after the reunion. Use it to keep in touch, keep current with contact info, share stories and pictures, mourn the loss of friends, celebrate grandchildren, or for whatever reason. Please be sure to notify us whenever you have a change of address, phone, or email so we can keep the database current! THANKS!
